Difference between simultaneous and consecutive interpreting

Interpreting – or interpretation – is the translation of spoken language. On a simultaneous interpreting assignment, translation takes place while the speaker is mid-sentence. Usually a portable FM radio set is provided at the venue for listening to the interpreter. In the case of RSI – Remote Simultaneous Interpretation – Zoom and similar platforms provide native support for multiple language interpreting services. The user is able to choose the target language channel on the app dashboard, if intepreting is available. On consecutive interpreting situations, the speakers and translator take turns in short sentences. This doesn't require the use of specific apps or devices, if in-person. Consecutive intepretation is recommended for small group meetings and entourage on-site visits. Regardless of the setting and location that require English-Portuguese real-time cultural bridging, please contact me to serve you to the very best of my ability.
